Special Interview !

Isabelle Anglade has accepted to give a special and exclusive interview to «The Spidery Writer», our newspaper. We will finally learn a bit more about this artist not very much well-known of the general public yet, but very promising.

We are honoured with being able to get an exclusive interview with you...

It's my pleasure ; it will also give me the opportunity to fill in this page and talk about me, my life, my dreams...

Wonderful ! And so, who are you ?

A young illustrator trying to make a name in the edition world..

It seems thrilling ! What made you choose illustration ? Your parents ?

Absolutely ! My parents have always dreamt to see me chosing the carreer of a poor artist ! (laughs) I should have suspected there was a rip-off somewhere...

Ah, so you hope to become rich someday ?

This is my big dream. Becoming rich and famous by illustrating children's books.

Er…good luck then.

You don't seem convinced…

Er…well, I will pass to another question. Who writes the stories you illustrate ?

For the moment I write my stories myself. But if I meet an author who would like to work with me someday, I won't refuse.

So you are an author-illustrator ! So cool !

Yeah, not to bad…

No way ! That's really great ! Fantastic ! That's…that's…Hem, sorry, I was losing my sense. Er, tell us a bit more about your drawings…

I like to illustrate slightly surrealistic situations in a poetic or comical way. Most of my drawings share the sense of humour. It can be light humour as well as irony.

Do you have any idol ? Any model ?

Well, all in a muddle : Van Gogh, Monet, François Place, Rébecca Dautremer, Dalì, Carl Larsson, Daumier, Yamaguchi Kayo, Hokusai, Bosch, Bill Watterson, Lepage, Vermeer, Marc-Antoine Matthieu, Wendling, Turner, Quentin Blake, Titouan Lamazou, Ivan Bilibine, Escher, Hiroshige, Mucha, Magritte, Jiro Taniguchi, Beatrix Potter, Chagall…

Stooooop ! Ok, I think that's enough. Last question, by any chance do you like animals ?

How do you know it ?!

Thanks a lot for this interview Isabelle, and we wish you to make your way on the road of success.
